We like Mexico.!
The border crossing into Mexico at Nogales is much easier than it used to be. They want the tourism, they were very courteous and worked with us. Interesting also is that the Mexican State of Sonora has what they call a hassell free zone. Means that if you come over the border from the US and plan to state in the State of Sonora, yo dont need to officially imort your vehicle you can stay up to 180 days and then drive back to states, very easy for a nice trip. If you go further into Mexico leaving Sonora you will need to import the vehicle temporarily like we did, which requires some fees and original title and other doc’s etc.. We did the importation at the US/Mex border because we knew we would need it leaving Sonora in a day or two heading further south in Mexico.
Stacey likes the beans and vegan food she can get. I like the carne asada. So far we are having a great time. And im learning to Blog.!! Slowly but im learning. Pimsler is coming in handy on MP3 as the driving is a great opportunity to learn spanish.
Today Scott Brady from ExpeditionsWest.com gave us all a free photo class. Helped to learn how to use our fancy pants equipment. Stacey was changing Fstops and Aperature etc. getting some interesting results. There are alot of photo opportunities here.
We have been giving bible literature to the toll booth attendants. They are suprised but happily accept. And some locals that we have run across also have enjoyed a witness and literature. One lady Stacey gave a tract was reading it about 30 minutes later as she attendended to her little store, selling paintings.
Our truck gets a lot of attention, Actually ours the least of the bunch. Police, gas station attendants etc all want to tell us about their four wheel drives etc.. Everyone likes a serious offroad rig here. Soe people want photos with the rigs, they use their cell phone cameras. Lots of places to go and explore even for the locals.
In this area this is a silver mine. So silver jewelry is for sale in the shops. I havent told stacey about it.. Just kidding.. She smelled it as soon as we arrived in Alamos.
I had some trouble with the SPOT tracking device. Not sure why it stopped posting our position to the web page map. But i think i have it working again. Well be on the move tommorow, so hopefully it works.
Ok thats it for now. Our posts should be in this section and our photos will be gallery style, if you touch one they should expand. This is blogging is starting to make sense to me now..
My guess is well be off line a few days as we have some off road terrain to cover, depends how smooth it goes.
