In route to Malaga

We left Valencia at daybreak to get an early start. Good thing, we had no idea just how long of a day it would be.

We were supposed to stop in Alacante and Cartagena but tourists on the Internet suggested they were a waste with not much to see. We stopped at a little fishing town for lunch.

The GPS was set for a hotel James found on the internet. It is in Las Negras right on the beach of the mediterranian. We ended up in Almeria which is the town the Sanchez family has their house. It didn’t look like the area James had booked and we couldn’t find the hotel. Once we inquired we found out we passed the exit by 25 min. Due to the location it seemed worth the trip…so back we went. Still not exactly sure where we are headed…we got off the correct exit, another 20 min to the coast. The terrain was so vast and desolated. Like something out of Planet of the Apes, it was as if another planet. A war fought…and lost. Abandoned ruins. Over mountains through the vast emptiness we finally plateau a mountain to the mirage of the sea. There was still hope! Our journey ended at our strangest location yet..the Cala Grande. An ULTRA modern hotel with absolutely NO other explanation other than a VERY, VERY rich guy. Bizarre and fantastic! Located in a National park “Cabo de Gata”

We ended up riding for 7 hours! Not including stops. But it's always amazing where the road takes you!
